empowering artists!

Creating space for artists to thrive in the

world of theatre

who are we?

Tebere Arts Foundation is a non-profit supporting playwrights and artists in theatre. We offer programs and opportunities for artists to develop and showcase their work and grow their skills through 5 major programs; the Emerging Artists' Intensive Lab, the Mid-Career & Established Playwrights Residency, the Annual Production, Community Theatre, and the Kampala International Theatre Festival.

what do we want?

To create systems and contribute towards supporting artistic platforms and infrastructures in Eastern Africa that are sustainable and focused on professionalism, ingenuity, new, creative, and inventive ways of thinking and working, as well as exposure and exchange.

what we offer!

a wide range of programs and services that cater to performers, writers, directors, and theatre enthusiasts.

Annual Production

The annual theatre production, held in the second half of each year, features a single play carefully chosen from the pool of works created by our Mid-career and Established Playwrights Residency participants.

Community Theatre

After conducting extensive research within the Kamwokya Community, we discovered a drama group known as KTLC Angels. Our emerging artists are collaborating with this group to craft theatrical pieces, primarily focusing on improv theatre and skits.

With a minimum of three years of experience in their respective fields, participants benefit from our supportive environment, offering resources and mentorship from seasoned playwrights.

The Kampala International Theatre Festival is an annual event that brings together theatre companies from around the world to showcase their work. The festival provides a platform for artists to share their stories, exchange ideas, and connect with audiences.

Emerging Artists' Intensive Lab

Our Emerging Artists Intensive Lab is designed to provide emerging artists with the tools and resources they need to succeed in the theatre industry. Through this program, artists will have the opportunity to participate in workshops, masterclasses, and mentorship programs led by industry professionals.
