brenda ibarah
Brenda Ibarah is a multi-disciplinary artist working in film, theatre, television, and audio.
Some of her screen and stage credits include ‘A Good Catholic Girl’ (2010), ‘Imbabazi’ (2012), ‘5@Home’ (2015), ‘A Ghost Story’ (2018), ‘Rope’ (2022), 'Suubi's Prayer (2022) and ‘Day 256’ (2023).
From May 2021 to May 2022, Ibarah was part of the Tebere Arts Foundation Emerging Artists Lab where she trained in writing, acting, and directing for theatre and audio dramas. She was also an assistant director for the 2021 Tebere Arts annual production 'Tropical Fish'. In 2022, she performed in 'Rope', the Tebere Arts annual production.
Her audio play 'Make A Joyful Noise!' was among the plays presented at the first-ever audio installation at the Kampala International Theatre Festival in November 2022. The play was also aired on the independent Swiss stations, Radio X in December 2022 and Kanal K in March 2023.
She is currently writing the play ‘Make Room’ which she is using to explore the themes of belonging, familial trauma, self–identity, grief, and healing. Ibarah was part of the 2023 musical theatre and acting program at YenzeTheatre Conservatoire where she was trained in the foundations of musical theatre.
