David Mukama
David Mukama is a dynamic Ugandan Creative artist excelling as a screenwriter, Director & Productions Assistant committed to storytelling that drives social change. Born and raised in Kaliro District, Eastern Uganda. He discovered his passion for the arts early, exploring poetry and songwriting in primary school.
He co-founded Final Comedy in 2021 during Uganda’s first lockdown, taking on the role of head content writer. His dedication to the craft earned him a writing certificate from CineArts Academy in 2023 and a Certificate in Production Assisting from Stage32 in 2024. He wrote and directed his first film “Dear Mom”, a short film officially selected for the 7th Kaduna International Film Festival in Nigeria and nominated in Malawi at Malawi Film Festival.
Determined to refine his skills, David joined the Tebere Arts Foundation as an Emerging Artist in 2024, expanding his expertise into theater. Later that year, he was selected for the iKon Young Filmmakers Fellowship, where his story secured second place and received production funding.
Through his work, David tackles critical social issues, including mental health, gender equality, sexual and reproductive health rights, and boy-child awareness. His storytelling serves as a powerful tool for advocacy, aiming to educate, inspire, and create meaningful impact across different mediums.
